HISTORY

The year 2011 marks the 50th Anniversary of Petersen Inc. What started out in a garage, is now a 634,000 sq. ft. specialized fabrication, precision machining corporation with facilities in Ogden, Utah and Pocatello, Idaho. Petersen Inc. also dedicates more than 900,000 sq. ft. to warehousing and distribution and also offers field service specialists who can handle the simplest modifications to large plant expansions.

1961 -
Specialized Welding founded by Denis Petersen (work begins in garage).

1974 - First shop facility is built.
1979 - Major expansion to fabrication building.
1980 - Petersen Specialized Fabricators incorporates in State of Utah.
1986 - Petersen Inc. adds machining as a new division and builds facility to house the large machines.
1989 - Steven M. Petersen purchases all company stock and becomes President/CEO of Petersen Incorporated.
1991 - Petersen Inc. receives first million-dollar contract.
1994 - Petersen Inc. receives Lockheed Martin Supplier of Excellence Award.
1995 - Petersen Inc. expands large fabrication bay to include two bays and 75-ton overhead crane capacity.
1997 - Petersen Inc. receives first Atlas IVA Rocket Booster Motor contract from Thiokol – Atlas IVB contract follows in 1999.

1997 -

Petersen Inc. receives second SBA Small Business Subcontractor of the Year award.

1998 -

Petersen Inc. warehousing division established and $30-million dollar contract signed with Boeing for storage of out-of-production tooling.

1999 -

Petersen Inc. purchases RPP patent and creates RPP International Ltd.

2001 -

Petersen Inc. receives NRC certification – starts work with Fluor Hanford, Waste Transfer System.

2002 -

Steve Petersen receives Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Engineering – Utah.

2003 - Petersen Inc. purchases Autoliv machining center.
2004 - Petersen Inc. receives purchase order from Bechtel to fabricate High Level Waste and Low Active Waste Melters for Richland Washington RPP Project. They are the largest Melters in the world.
2005 - Petersen Inc. receives Boeing SBA Subcontractor of the Year Award.
2005 - Petersen Inc. receives MEP Utah Manufacturer of the Year – Large.
2005 - Petersen Inc. receives Region VIII SBA Subcontractor of the Year Award.
2006 - Petersen Inc. receives ISO9001-2000 certification.
2010 - Petersen Inc. becomes a 100% ESOP-Employee Owned Company.
2011 -
